Richland Township has one cemetery, Prairie Home Cemetery, on the north and south side of M-89 in the Village of Richland.

Foundation Installation Fees


$0.70 per square inch and require an 8” collar. (4” on all sides of stone)

Maximum foundation size 24" x 48" per grave

Foundations are not placed during colder months (Generally November through March)

Gravesite Purchase (Burial Rights)
Burial Rights cost $250.00 per gravesite and may only be purchased by a resident or property owner of Richland Township. Each family may only own burial rights for up to eight (8) gravesites.
 
Each Grave can be used for up to One Full Burial and one Cremains Burial after the full burial or four Cremains Burials.

General Rules:

  • All burials require 36 hours’ notice.
  • All Monday burials (or Tuesday burials if Monday is a holiday) must be ordered by 12:00 noon on the previous Friday or burial will be assessed a Short Notice Fee.
  • All burials closed same day as funeral service.
  • No burial services will be provided on Easter, July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day, Labor Day, or Memorial Day.
  • Short notice openings are not guaranteed and are at RI Stafford Excavating’s sole discretion.
  • All Monuments, headstones, plaques, etc. require a foundation to be poured by Cemetery Staff.
  • Vaults are required for all burials except for the interment of stillborn babies and cremains.
  • Payments are to be made to Richland Township and may only be paid by cash or check.
