The roundabout construction at M-343 (Gull Road) and G Avenue is set to start with tree removal in late March and road construction in early April. MDOT anticipates construction will be largely completed and the new roundabout open to traffic by Aug. 1, 2021.

The first stage of construction will be the reconstruction of the 28th Street intersection at M-343. During this stage, there will be one lane of M-343 open to traffic in each direction, and 28th Street traffic will be detoured on G Avenue, Sprinkle Road, DE Avenue, 26th Street, and D Avenue.

M-343 roundabout construction at G Avenue is the final stage of construction. Again, one lane of M-343 will remain open in each direction during this stage. G Avenue traffic will be detoured on Sprinkle Road, East Main Street and North 33rd Street.

It’s worth noting that MDOT is required to post detours only on certain roads. Motorists are welcome to take whatever route is safest and most convenient for them.
