From the United States Treasury

All federal benefits will soon be paid electronically. Anyone applying for federal benefits will need to choose an electronic payment method at the time they apply for their benefit, while anyone currently receiving paper checks needs to switch by March 1, 2013

Those already recieving benefit payments electronically do not need to take further action.

People who do not choose an electronic payment option by March 1, 2013, or at the time they apply for federal benefits, will receive their payments via the Direct Express debit card.

Office Information

Our office does accept postmarks so make sure the postmark is on or before the tax due date.

We have a drop box to the left of the front entrance if you are paying your tax bill when the office is not open.

When paying your taxes, please make sure the billing address is correct so that you receive future bills and notices as well.  It is your responsibility to inform our offices of any changes or corrections.

If you have your taxes escrowed with your mortgage company, a bill wil be sent  only to the mortgage company..  If you would like a copy of your bill, stop in or we can email it to you.

Our office  will receive tax payments without interest or penalty until September 14, 2011.  On Setember 15, 2011, a 1% interest fee will be charged for the remainder of September. An additional 1% will be charged for each month after until Feb 29, 2012.

On February 15, 2012, an additional 3% penalty will be charged on balances reimaining due.

On March 1, 2012, the tax roll will be turned over to the county for their collection.  To make a payment after March 1,  we will no longer be able to accept payments on real estate taxes. Call Kalamazoo County  Treasurer @ 384-8124  for payoff amounts.
