Safe disposal of those household chemicals

Used oil paint, spray paint, bug sprays, chemicals, etc.

As we prepare for spring; do you find your cabinets filled with partially used cans of bug spray, fertilizers, spray paint, and containers of paint?

Items that you know have been there a while but have no idea if they are any good or not?

Did you get a new TV or computer for Christmas and don't know where to dispose the old broken one?

These items may be taken to the Household Hazardous Waste center for safe disposal.    The HHW is located at 1301 Lamont Street (right next to the fairgrounds) and is prepared to properly dispose your items.   Psst....did you know they won't  take latex paint?  That's because if the paint is dryed up it may be placed in your regular garbage!  Simply remove the lid and let air dry.  Or if you don't want to wait, you may add kitty litter to the old paint to help it dry up.  Once all the paint is dryed, just toss in the garbage!

For hours, locations, acceptible items, visit their web page.

The service is free for residents in Richland Township.
