November 3, 2020 Election

Vote on November 3, 2020

The General election is Tuesday, November 3, 2020.   Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. for those voters wishing to vote in person.    Voters are asked to mask up and practice social distancing.  Precincts are equipped with hand sanitizer, voting stations that adhere to social distancing guidelines, sanitized voting stations and equipment, in addition to workers wearing personal protection aids.

Richland Township's Election Committee is meeting on Monday September 21, 2020 at 9 AM.

The purpose of the meeting is to consider, among other things, the following:

  • Approve Election Workers for the November General Presidential Election and Grant Authority to the Clerk’s Office to staff as needed.
  • Appoint Clerk’s office (staff) to perform testing of ballots (Preliminary and public).
  • Approve Clerk’s Office to approve the ballot.
  • Appoint Clerk’s office to issue ballots.
  • Appoint Clerk’s Office to consolidate or Change Precincts as required.

The Committee may consider any other item brought before them.

M-89 Bridge Repairs Over Gull Creek In Richland

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is resurfacing the M-89 bridge over Gull Creek. The $138,000 investment includes hot-mix asphalt cold milling and overlay, concrete deck patching, and pavement markings.

The Fall 2020 Water System Flushing Schedule which will begin on September 20, 2020 and continue through September 29, 2020.  Flushing will take place during evening hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:30 a.m and daytime hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Monday August 31 – Set up D Avenue Detour and begin tree removal/trimming. Detour is northward up 35th to East CD, then East CD to 37th, then back on 37th to D Avenue. This is the detour approved by the Road Commission.

 

Wednesday September 2 or Thursday September 3 – Set up DE Avenue detour and begin tree removal/trimming. Detour will be M-89.

 

Note: Detours will be taken down before the Labor Day weekend.

 

Wednesday September 9 – Reset the D Avenue detour and begin water main installation. This should continue until September 22 but we will notify everyone regarding the specific date once we get closer to that date (based on contractor progress).

Kalamazoo, MI – One symptomatic employee who works for the Grifols BioMat USA, has tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The health department advises people who were at the plasma center located at 167 E. Kalamazoo Avenue on the following dates June 27, 28, and 29, and July 3, 6, 8, and 9 to monitor themselves daily for symptoms of the respiratory disease and seek testing from their healthcare provider.

Kalamazoo, MI – Kalamazoo County Health & Community Services Department’s Area Agency on Aging (AAA) IIIA has joined forces with Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes to streamline distribution of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farmers to Families Food Box Program. On May 8, the USDA approved contracts across the country for the program, which allows local farmers and suppliers to coordinate boxes of fruits, vegetables, and dairy with food banks and Area Agency on Aging across the state. AAA IIIA will receive the first delivery this week.
