Richland Community Hall
History :
- Originally built as a Methodist Church in 1888, the Community Hall was purchased by a private family and deeded jointly to the village and township in 1926. The deed includes several use restrictions.
- Since then, the Hall has been used by the Village Players, as village/township offices, and as the original library until 1984.
- 1998-Exterior renovations
- 2005-Interior renovations (apprx $75,000 spent for both )
Current Status:
- Minimal maintenance costs=$2,000/yr
- Rental income from 2000-2004 approximately $6,000/yr
- Rental income from 2008-2010 approximately $400/yr
- Much of the loss in rental income can be attributed to the opening of the Richland Area Community Center, Township Meeting Room, the lack of a main floor restroom and usable kitchen
- The Hall is in need of some repairs and/or upgrades in order to make it a viable rental property
